Started listening before I started transmitting. Grew up with a scanner
glued to my ear — railroad traffic, city PD/FD — long before I ever keyed
a mic. Got licensed during a stretch between jobs, when "what do I do
with all this time" turned into "get your ticket." Never looked back.

MODES: FT8, DMR, and whatever else the band conditions allow
HARDWARE: SDRs, deep in the mix — scanning, decoding, general
signal-hunting projects
STATUS: always adding another radio to the pile

Most people use the internet to talk to people down the street.
I'm building the opposite: a network that doesn't need the internet
at all. RF is a parallel path — one that keeps family and friends
connected when the "real" internet doesn't.
It's not just convenience. When disaster hits and the grid goes down,
that's exactly when a community needs to stay in contact most. Part
of what I'm working toward is real emergency preparedness — comms
that hold a neighborhood together when everything else drops out.

Poking around SDRs, DMR, or building your own off-grid comms mesh?
That's exactly the kind of conversation I'm here for.
